Who Is Charlotte Marie
Hey! I am Charlotte Marie, the creator of By Charlotte Marie, a child and
family therapist, and a passionate advocate for mental health. Growing up
in Oakland, California, I was exposed to the devastating effects of systems
of oppression due to the remnants of the War on Drugs, the recession, and
the housing crisis. Unable to ignore the gaps in opportunity between
specific social groups, I began finding ways to advocate and promote
healing. At the ripe age of 16, I embarked on my career as an advocate and
healer.
Throughout my tenure in the field, I have sought to explore several facets
of the mental health system to broaden my scope of competency and
ability to work with diverse populations. The healing approaches I
implement rely on relationships and education to help increase
communities' autonomy and resilience. My experiences highlight the vast
impact of trauma on societal, psychological, and physiological growth. The
focus of my brands is to support black communities as they navigate
systems of oppression and contribute to alleviating harm inflicted by
institutional racism.
